Moving a Forest: The Disappearance of Neodobam
We are excited to present our new production, Moving a Forest: The Disappearance of Neodobam, created in collaboration with the international theatre group Blooming Ludus, based in Canada, Korea, and the UK.
Neodobam, a researcher at the Korean Future Forest Environmental Institute, has gone missing after a dispute with their colleague, Osori. Neodobam was last seen walking through the dense forests of Turtle Island (a term for North America), far from home. This forest is the ancient homeland of the trees that migrated to Korea long ago.
To find Neodobam, a search team delves into the old-growth forest. Will they be able to locate the missing researcher?
Moving a Forest: The Disappearance of Neodobam is an interactive performance blending game elements, puppetry, and observational theatre. We invite you to join us on this enchanting journey.
This collaborative new performance will be presented in three locations across Nova Scotia, Canada:
July 24, 2024 - King’s Theatre (Annapolis Royal)
July 25, 2024 - Ross Creek Annex (Canning)
July 26, 2024 - All Nations Church (Kjipuktuk / Halifax)
Moving a Forest: Boardgame V2 will be exhibited in the Mediated Process exhibition, invited by the UWA Design School in Perth, Australia.
This work was originally created for the participatory game theatre piece , and has been modified for 4-6 players.
Since 2020, artists from Sweden, Korea, Germany, Russia, and Australia have been collaborating online through the “In the Process of” artist gathering. Although we’ve only met one artist in person, this opportunity brings together four artists. While not everyone could join, seeing the artworks in person fills the gap that online interactions couldn’t.
Exhibition Opening : Feb 21, 2024 6:30-8:30pm
Moving a Forest Workshop : Feb 24, 2024 1-3pm
